What is composting?

Compostable materials are organic and will decompose into the earth, leaving only nutrients behind. Composting improves soil, naturally fertilizes, reduces diseases, and reduces waste.

Composting can be done at home or via a commercial compost site. Hosted products are commercially composted in a high-temperature environment that cannot be met in a backyard compost bin or landfill. The higher levels encourage materials to break down into organic-rich soil and support a healthy environment.

Hosted compostable products are made of plant-based materials and are certified to break down within 180 days when processed by a commercial composting facility. Commercial facilities help to provide the conditions our compost needs to break down quickly and efficiently.

By collecting your party waste in a compost bag or bin, you can dispose of it in a few different ways. In some cases, your trash hauler may offer this service and supply you with a special collection bin. If this is not available to you through your hauler, you might leverage a community composting site.
